Emma, thank you for staying at Skye Niseko! What have been the highlights?

The view! We were constantly mesmerized by the view directly onto the slopes from every window in our apartment. It was always a race to open the curtains in the morning to see how much more powder fell over night! We also loved our fireplace, very comfy beds and how much space we all had to ourselves.

Did you rent equipment from Yama Sport at Skye Niseko?

We brought most of our own equipment but my son did forget his helmet and gloves so it was so great to find that we could actually HIRE gloves as well as a beanie from Yama Sport!

My husband checked out all the hire boards and was tempted to have a go of hiring some of the latest Burton powder boards. My little boy hired his skis and (for the first time) poles, which he was ecstatic about!

It's great to finally see a rental store where absolutely everything you could need on snow can be hired.

What about the onsen?

Yes, we booked the private onsen about six times! It was lovely to be able to take our children and enjoy that hot skin-softening water together. We also went to the public onsen which was very well fitted out with a sauna and cold plunge pool in addition to the large onsen.

An onsen is a must after a day on the slopes and it’s fantastic that Skye Niseko has both onsen options so families need not miss out.

Did you eat at in-house Kumo Restaurant? What was your favourite dish?

Yes we enjoyed the Kiri Gumo course menu at Kumo Restaurant. Stand out dishes were the melt-in-your-mouth miso cod and the children loved the yakitori.

What do you like the most about breakfast at Kumo Restaurant?

The variety. There were bakery items, yogurts, miso soup, the usual eggs, sausages, baked vegetables as well as multiple salads (Japanese style and western) and fresh cut fruit.

And did you try the Skye Niseko Cafe Deli?

Yes. The cafe deli is a great concept. It’s right between reception and ski valet so before I would meet my son after his ski lesson I would pop next door to the deli and grab a hot chocolate for us both. They had a daily soup option and various sandwiches, baguettes and paninis that were ready made so you could grab and go.

We heard you enjoyed our daily events!

Yes, our favourite was the calligraphy class that was set up in the deli. Such a clever idea to introduce the Japanese tradition of calligraphy in a relaxed environment. All the afternoon musicians were so talented and having them play in the background was uplifting when you come back in from the slopes exhausted after a fun day.

You are known as an expert in family travel. Do you think that Skye Niseko is a family friendly accommodation?

Definitely, for many reasons!

The location to start with, right next to the Ace Family Lift which is perfect for skiers of all ages. The convenience of the ski valet means no carrying all your kids skis and boots. The luxurious comfort of the apartments with a fire place and a full kitchen where we often made lunch.

Not to mention the other small conveniences that really assist you to have a stress free holiday.

You can purchase lift tickets at the Concierge in the hotel, you can order takeaway from local restaurants to be delivered to your room, use the complimentary shuttle bus to the village for any supplies you might need for the family and top quality ski/board equipment hire within the hotel.

Thank you Emma, we can't wait to have you stay with us again soon!
